Human rights education for journalism students in Russia
(2014-2017)

Aims:
To increase the level knowledge about human rights and mechanism of their protection, intercultural communication, and journalism ethics among journalism students in three regions of Russia (Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg). To develop further cooperation between the Norwegian and Russian institution on journalism education. To develop and publish an online educational resource “Intercultural understanding, Human rights and ethics in journalism”.

Activities:
Courses on human rights, intercultural communication and journalism ethics in three regions of Russia (Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg).
Study trips of journalism students from Russia to Norway /Volda University college and vice versa.

Partners: 
Faculties on journalism education in St. Petersburg State University, Nizhny Novgorod State University and Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad; University of Humanities (law and journalism faculties) in Yekaterinburg. Media faculties at the Volda University college and OsloMet University.

Funding: 
Norwegian ministry of foreign affairs/ Russia program.
