Human rights education for journalism students in Russia
(2014-2017) 

Aims:

  • To increase the level knowledge about human rights and mechanism of their protection, intercultural communication, and journalism ethics among journalism students in three regions of Russia (Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg).
  • To develop further cooperation between the Norwegian and Russian institution on journalism education. To develop and publish an online educational resource “Intercultural understanding, Human rights and ethics in journalism”. 

Activities:

  • Courses on human rights, intercultural communication and journalism ethics in three regions of Russia (Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg).
  • Study trips of journalism students from Russia to Norway /Volda University college and vice versa.

Partners: 

  • Faculties on journalism education in St. Petersburg State University, Nizhny Novgorod State University and Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad; University of Humanities (law and journalism faculties) in Yekaterinburg.
  • Media faculties at the Volda University college and OsloMet University.
